Mangalore Today News Network

Bengaluru, March 9, 2016, DHNS: A 35-year-old woman has said that three men barged into her home after Sunday midnight, beat her teenage son and then took turns to rape her. One of the men is the husband of a gram panchayat member, she told the  police.

rape caseThe incident is said to be the fallout of the woman’s affair with Brahmananda Reddy, a water tank dealer from Hadosiddapura near Sarjapur main road.  The woman works as a cook in an apartment near Bellandur and had separated from her husband six years ago.

She is living with her 15-year-old son at A Krish-nappa Nagar in HSR Lay out. Her son is an attendant at a private firm. About six months ago, she met Reddy and became intimate with him. He started visiting her often.

Reddy’s wife got wind of the affair a few months ago and warned him but he ignored her. She then complained to their relative, Santhosh Reddy, a real estate dealer. He got furious and decided to teach him a lesson.

On Sunday night, he learnt that Reddy was in the woman’s house.  He took his two friends Manju and Suresh along and went looking for the house. After some time, they managed to find it. Around 1 am, they knocked on the door.

When the door was opened, they found Reddy inside. They dragged him and started beating him. They also thrashed the woman’s teenage son. Fearing for his life, Reddy fled the spot.

The three men, however, didn’t go away. They instead locked the door with one of them watching the young boy. They then took turns to rape the woman. Before leaving the house, they asked her to stay away from Reddy. The woman went to the HSR Layout police station on Monday evening and filed a complaint.

A police officer said they were awaiting the woman’s medical reports. Santhosh has been arrested but the two others are absconding.

‘May have filmed the act’

“Santhosh claims they only assaulted her and  didn’t rape her. We suspect that the men filmed the entire act on their mobile phone. But we have no clue about it nor did the woman mention it in her complaint. We are investigating the case and if the video is available, it will be a strong evidence,” the officer said.  A case of gang rape under section 376 D of the IPC has been registered.
