Unexpected tough maths paper faced by Class XII CBSE students

Mangalore Today News Network

New Delhi, Mar 17, 2016, DHNS:Two days after several class XII CBSE students came out of the maths exam with tears in their eyes, the board on Wednesday assured that it will take some remedial measures before beginning evaluation.

CBSEThe board, however, did not divulge details on the remedial measures. “The feedback received from various stakeholders, including students, subject teachers and examiners, will be placed before the committee of subject experts and the board will take remedial measures before evaluation,” the CBSE said in a statement.

The board also rejected media reports about paper leak in Ranchi and Dhanbad districts of Jharkhand, saying it was a “coincidence” that two questions matched with one of the question paper sets.

There were reports that the paper was available on WhatsApp since Sunday and that touts were selling 51 questions and answers near examination centres.

Sources told Deccan Herald that some of the questions were found to be “tricky” when the matter came up for discussion at two meetings of the board officials.

“But no one is complaining that the questions were out of syllabus. Feedback from some of the zones like Dehradun and Bihar are quite contrary to what was being claimed by students from some other parts of the country. However, the CBSE is carefully looking into the matter,” sources added.

Amid the anxiety, “change.org” said students and parents had initiated about 100 petitions on its website in the last 48 hours, demanding relief to the students.
