Now, apply online for DL across State

Bengaluru, Jan 21, 2015, DHNS: Come February 15, applications for driving licence (DL), learner’s licence (LL) and registration certificates from 31 RTOs located across 12 districts in the State will go online.

DLFrom February 15, the department will also begin the process in the remaining jurisdictions of the State and by March 15, online applications will become mandatory across the entire State.

The Transport Department on Tuesday announced that it would begin accepting online applications for learners licence and driver’s licence from applicants living in the jurisdictions of 31 RTO offices located across 12 districts in the State. The online application process will be made mandatory for these districts from February 15.

The move comes as part of the announcements made in the State Budget, and a notification was issued on January 8, officials said.

Mysuru, Kolar, Tumakuru, Mandya, Hassan, Shivamogga, Mangaluru, Belagavi, Bagalkote, Karwar, Ballari and Bidar RTO jurisdictions will go online from February 15.

“There should be no corruption or involvement of touts in these services and that is why there would be minimum face-to-face interaction. Citizens under these jurisdictions can apply through the online method irrespective of jurisdiction for new driving licence, learner’s licence and new vehicle registration in any of the RTO office of their respective districts,” said Transport Commissioner Ramegowda.

The service is already available for applicants in Bengaluru Urban district.The online applications will be received on an experimental basis with effect from February 15 and the same will be mandatory with effect from March 15 in the Regional/Assistant Regional Transport Offices of the remaining 17 districts of the State, including Chikkaballapura, Chamarajanagar, Madikeri, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davangere, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Vijayapura, Kalaburagi, Yadagiri, Raichur, Koppal, Ramanagar and Bengaluru Rural.

To use the online services, applicants can log on to www.rto.kar.nic.in or use the Karnataka Mobile One app which can be downloaded by giving a missed call to 1800-425-425-425.
