India sees 723 Covid deaths in last 24 hours, lowest in 3 months; 39,796 new cases reported

New Delhi, Jul 05, 2021: India reported 39,796 new Covid-19 cases on Monday with 723 fatalities in the last 24 hours, the lowest daily death toll in three months, according to data shared by the Union Health Ministry.The country’s cumulative caseload declined to 4,82,071, of which total recoveries were at 2,97,00,430 across the country. Active cases constitute 1.59 per cent of the total caseload.

Among all the states, Kerala reported the highest Covid-19 cases at 12,100, followed by Maharashtra with 9,336 cases, Tamil Nadu with 3,867 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 3,175 cases and Odisha with 2,870 cases.

These five states accounted for 78.78 per cent of the daily new cases reported on Sunday, with Kerala alone responsible for 30.41 per cent of the fresh infections.

The number of reported daily deaths in the country was the lowest since March, with 723 fatalities reported in the last 24 hours. This takes the total tally of Covid-related deaths to 4,02,728.

Maximum casualties were reported in Maharashtra (306), followed by Kerala with 76 deaths in the last 24 hours.

A total of 42,352 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. Daily recoveries continued to outnumber the daily new cases for the 53rd consecutive day.

The recovery rate further increased to 97.11 per cent.

India conducted 15,22,504 tests during the previous day, aggregating to 41.95 crore tests so far, according to the Health Ministry data.Covid-19 vaccine doses administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive surged to 35.28 crore after 14,81,583 doses were given in the last 24 hours.
