Centre seeks suggestions on CBSE evaluation

Mangalore Today News Network

New Delhi, Sep 12, 2016 : The Centre has initiated a move to “strengthen” the continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE) system in schools, inviting suggestions on its implementation.

minister 12 sep 16The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched an online survey, urging the parents, teachers and students to submit their feedback by answering a list of questions posted on its website. “The feedback will be kept confidential,” the board said.

The feedback collected will be examined by the examination reforms committee of the CBSE.
The board will subsequently send the panel’s suggestions along with the feedback received to the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry for its consideration, official sources said. This comes at a time when the Centre is in process of formulating a new education policy for the nation amid demands for doing away with the no detention policy prescribed for elementary classes under the Right to Education (RTE) Act.

Most of the state governments, except the government of Karnataka, have been demanding reintroduction of holding of annual examinations to pass and fail students based on their performance in schools. The states have also expressed their dissatisfaction with the implementation of the CCE in schools, citing the failure of the teachers in implementation of its provisions in its true spirit for various reasons.
