5 arrested in Snapdeal employee Dipti Sarna kidnapping case

New Delhi, February 15, 2016: Police today arrested 5 people in connection with the Dipti Sarna kidnapping case. One of the five persons arrested in the case is close to the Sarna family, said police.

25-year-old Dipti Sarna, a Snapdeal employee, was kidnapped after she had boarded an auto rickshaw from outside Vaishali metro station on February 10.

The kidnappers had blindfolded Dipti and thereafter bundled her in a car and ferried her to some unknown place.

Dipti said that she was not assaulted sexually or physically and was offered food and snacks.

Later the kidnappers had dropped Dipti at some unknown railway station from where she boarded a Delhi-bound local train. When the train reached Narela railway station, she asked one of the co-passengers to make a call to her parents from his mobile phone.

The police are yet to ascertain the exact sequence of events, the motive behind the kidnapping and the places she was taken to.
