’’High speed’’ Delhi-Mumbai Talgo train final trial at 150 kmph today

New Delhi, Sep 10, 2016 : The final trial to determine if the Spanish Talgo train can slash the journey between Delhi and Mumbai by four hours, delivering passengers at just under 12 hours to their destination, will be conducted today.

The train will leave from New Delhi station at 2:45 p.m. and is scheduled to reach Mumbai at 2.29 a.m. early morning next day, while running at 150 km per hour in its final trial.Nine super light-weight coaches manufactured by Spanish firm Talgo, which can hit 200 km per hour, were imported to Mumbai in April.Meanwhile, the Talgo train reached Mumbai today 18 minutes late in its third trial.Travelling 1,384 km stretch between New Delhi and Mumbai, the train at 140 km per hour speed reached 3.15 a.m. instead of scheduled arrival at 2.57 a.m.

The Indian Railways had conducted the first trial run of Talgo trains on the Bareilly-Moradabad stretch in Uttar Pradesh, followed by the second trial run was conducted on the Palwal-Mathura section of the North-Central Railway.
