Abu Dhabi: Bunts Dubai once again lifts the golden ladies and gents KSSM Throwball Trophies

Abu Dhabi: 24 Jan 2014:  Bunts Dubai both ladies and gents teams proved supreme in lifting the prestigious KoosammaShambu Shetty Memorial Throwball tournament for Ladies & Gents Trophies while Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha and Konkans Dubai retained their runners up trophies.

The tournament began at about 9:30am at Abu Dhabi Indian School Ground inaugurated by Dr.B.R.Shetty& Dr.(Mrs)ChandrakumariB.R.Shetty.   Prior to the inauguration ceremony Mr. Sarvotham Shetty(President, Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha) welcomed all the teams, and welcomed all the dignitaries and  invited them to the dais of the day namely: Padmashree Dr.B R SHETTY (MD-NMC Group), Dr.Chandrakumari B R Shetty, Mr.Binay B R Shetty, Ms.NandiniTandon, Board Member, Duke & Stanford Uniiversity, USA, Dr.Vidya Shetty, Chief Academic Offrice, B R Schools, Dr.Rishi, Principal, Bright Riders School, Mr.N C Vijayachandra, Principal, Adis, Mr.V K Mathu, Advisor, Board of Governors, ADIS, Mr.Ravindranath, Vice Principal, ADIS, Mr.Valerian, President, KCO Abu Dhabi, Mr.Ronald Pinto (Hysna International), Mr.Sudhir Kumar Shetty (COO Global – UAE Exchange), Ms.SeemaNirman.

 

 

Dr. B.R. Shetty wished all the teams success and announced the next year as the Silver Jubilee of the KSSM tournament and announced that the silver trophies will be presented to the winning teams on the occasion of Silver Jubilee of  prestigiousKoosammaShambu Shetty Memorial Throwball tournament for Ladies & Gents .

The oath was taken prior to beginning of the matches led by Ms. ChetnaPrabhu of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha.  The photo session of the of the participating teams was held:
 (1) Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, (2) KCO, Abu Dhabi, (3) Bunts, Dubai, (4) Konkan’s, Dubai, (5)Mogaveer’s, UAE , (6) Mangalore Konkans, Dubai, (7) SMMKC, Sharjah, (8) Canara Catholics Fujairah

Following the closely contested league matches, following teams made it to the semi finals:

Ladies teams:  Bunts Dubai, Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, Mangalore Konkans and Konkans Dubai.  Bunts Dubai defeated Konkans Dubai and Karnataka Sangha defeated Mangalore Konkans and reached the finals.

Gents Teams:  Bunts Dubai, Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, Konkans Dubai and KCO Abu Dhabi.  Bunts Dubai defeated Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha and Konkans Dubai defeated KCO Abu Dhabi and reached the finals.

In the ladies finals, though Karnataka Sangha gave a tough fight, Bunts Dubai reined over them and took away the trophy once again.  In the gents too Bunts Dubai defeated Konkans Dubai easily.
 

The prize distribution ceremony was held after the matches amidst following guests :
Dr.B R SHETTY, Dr.Chandrakumari B R Shetty, Mr.Ronald Pinto, Mr.S B SHETTY, Mr.Siraj Ahmed, Inland Builders, Mangalore, Mr.Sudhir Kumar Shetty and Mr.Sujat Shetty.


The referees of the day were honored with a memento each.  They are:  (1) Mr.Satish Shetty, (2) Mr.Jayapal Raj, (3) Dr.Dey, (4) Ms.Annette Menezes and (5) Ms.JessinthaRasquinha.  Mr. Sarvotham Shetty highly appreciated them for their hard work.

On the occasion, two media representatives were honoured for their respective web portals Mr. Ozwald D’Souza (Daijiworld) and Mr. Alphonse Mendonsa (Bellevision) by Dr. B.R. Shetty with a traditional Shawl and a gift each.  They are leaving U.A.E. shortly for good. Both of them thanked the organizers, community and everyone who supported them through-out their service for their respective portals.

The outstanding players of the tournament were too given away with a memento each namely:

Best Defender - Sangitha Shetty of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha
Best Striker - Neethu Shetty of Bunts Dubai
All Rounder - Sangitha Shetty of Bunts Dubai

Gents Team
Best Defender - Kishore Shetty of Bunts Dubai
Best Striker - Johnson of Konkan’s Dubai
All Rounder - Ranjit Shetty of Bunts Dubai

Finally, the prize distribution ceremony took place and all the winning teams were given away with trophies.
