St Joseph’s Commerce College Bangalore bags Acme Overall Championship

Mangalore, Feb 5: St Joseph’s Commerce College of Bangalore was declared to be the overall champion of Acme 2010, the 2-day commerce festival organized by the Commerce Association of St Aloysius College (Autonomous) Manglore, which was concluded on Feb 4, Thursday. The runners up were Shri Bhagawan Mahaveera Jain College. 

Kristu Jayanthi College, St Joseph’s Evening College, St Joseph’s Commerce College, and Shri Bhagawan Mahaveera College from Bangalore and Canara College, St Agnes College, Besant Women’s College, Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College, and MGM College participated in this event. 

Naveen N, chartered accountant and former president of ICAI, coferred the awards on the winners and gave away certificates to all the participants. Stressing the importance of focusing on the future, Naveen told the young people present on the occasion that India is a land of great opportunities. The country has the added benefits of being one of the countries that were least affected by global recession. He said that the country offers innumerable opportunities in the fields of telecommunications, retail sector, and many more. 

Fr. Swebert D’Silva, the principal of St Aloysius College, spoke about the importance of team work and congratulated the Commerce Association for successfully organizing Acme 2010. 

Dr. Suresh Poojary, the dean of the Commerce Department, welcomed the gathering. Jane Fiona D’Souza, the secretary of the Commerce Association, read the report of the event. Veena Kumari, the president, proposed the vote of thanks. 

Brandon Miranda, the secretary, announced the names of the winners. Manuel Tauro, the coordinator of the Commerce Department, was also present.
