Shivalli brahmins organize conference in Puttur

Puttur, Dec 29: “The teachings of Madhwacharya should be accepted as the beacon light of society. Shivalli brahmins should present a role model to others by living a moral and religious life,” said Pejavar Seer Shree Vishweshatheertha Swamiji. He was present during the fourth conference of the Shivalli Brahmin Society of DK, Kodagu, and Kasaragod districts, which was organized by the Shivalli Sampada Association, Puttur. 

Divakar Nidvannaya, the president of the Sampada, presided over the programme. Shree Vidyavallabhatheertha Swamiji, the pontiff of Kaniyur , and Shree Vidyaprassanatheertha Swamiji, the pontiff of Subrahmanya, guided the event. 

During the occasion, Dr. V S Acharya, the home minister; K Raghupathi Bhat, the MLA of Udupi, T Narayana Bhat, the winner of the National Award for Teachers; and Shreenivas Muchchinnaya, the winner of the District Award for Teachers, were felicitated. 

Dr. V S Acharya said that Shivalli brahmins are now seen in all walks of life. He suggested that they take the guidance of their pontiffs to solve their day-to-day problems. 

A souvenir titled “Hindu Dharma Mattu Nambike,” by Avinash Kodankir, an address book of the members of the Shivalli community, and a Shivalli website were also released during the ocassion. 

G L Acharya, the honorary president of Shivalli Sampada; K L Acharya, Ananthesh Kedlaya, Vijay Raghava Paduvetnaya, and many other leaders of the Shivalli Brahmin Society were present for the programme.
