NEST and Sparsha celebrate North East day

Mangalore, Feb 1: North East Students’ Team (NEST) and Sparsha Youth Counselling Center jointly organized North East Celebrations at Kalaangan, Shaktinagar on Jan 31, Sunday. Ln J K Rao, the vice district governor, inaugurated the programme. In his inaugural speech, he stressed the importance of patriotism and unity in diversity. 

Roshan Castelino, the president of Sparsha, delivered the key-note address. Kaini, the professor of Ballal College of Nursing, presided over the programme. Dr. Savitha Periera, lecturer in St Aloysius College, organized a session for the students. Antony Veluveru, the president of NEST, proposed the vote of thanks. 

About 100 students from the north east, studying in 15 colleges in and around Mangalore, participated in the programme. They presented a variety of cultural programes. 

The new office bearers of NEST were selected during this occasion. Sumithra of Mangala College was elected as the general secretary, and Adi from A J Institute of Medical Sciences was elected as the president. 

Denis D’Silva, the director of Sparsha, and Philip Monteiro, the former president of Milagres Lions Club, also participated in the programme.
