nihalMangalore Nov 9: All India Chess Federation has selected prodigy chess player Nihal Manjunath to participate in the World Youth Chess Championship 2009, which will be organized in Turkey by the Turkish Chess Federation from Nov 2 - 23. He will participate in the boys’ under-14 category.

Nihal’s exemplary performance in the national under-3 chess championship organized in Vellore last year in which he won the third place has led to this selection.

Nihal is currently a Std X student of Lourdes Central School. While representing his school in several chess events, he won the National CBSE Championship. Besides, he has also won the national bronze, the silver medal in Asian School Chess, and the state under-13 title.
