Udupi, March 2, 2017: The police arrested a person on the charge of murdering his friend at Pethri in Cherkady village coming under Brahmavar police station limits on Wednesday.

According to the police, Prashant alias Pachu alias Mani who used to always pester his friend, Prakash (38), for money.

This pestering took the form of a verbal duel and then resulted in a fight. Prashant stabbed Prakash in the stomach with a knife during the fight.

A severely injured Prakash died on the way to hospital. The police later arrested Prashant from his house.

A case has been registered under Sections 506, 302 of Indian Penal Code and Section 3(2)(v) of The Scheduled Castes and of Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, at Brahmavar.
