Puttur, May 28, 2014:   Reports state  Mohammed Razik (14), son of Abdul Majeed of Janata colony in Golitottu village near Nellyadi, playing at his home died after being hit by lightning on May 28. Razik was a student in Konalu Govt. school and was in a happy mood after passing from VIII standard to IX standard..Parts of the taluk were hit by rain accompanied by thunder on May 28, evening.

In yet another incident of which many have gone unreported, a house belonging to Ramananda Rai of Kuriya village, was hit by lightning. All electronic wiring and appliances were burnt and a big loss has been estimated. The unusual weather pattern prevailing recently has given rise to many severe thunder storms posing great danger to people and the administration needs to bring awareness on safety measures.
