Laws and policies must help, not create problems: U T Khader

Mangalore, Feb 11: "The state government must form land revenue schemes and laws to help the people, not to create problems for them," said MLA U T Khader during a Hakkothaya programme organized by the Karnataka Nagarika Hakku Samrakshana Trust to demand solutions for various problems faced by the people of the coastal districts in front of the DC Office on Feb 11, Thursday at 11 a.m. He alleged that MUDA is guilty of extortion in the guise of city development.

Pointing out the pathetic condition of the district roads, advocate M R Ballal said that the DK ministers do not mind using these poorly maintained roads despite the fact that no other minister in any other district would walk along such roads. He suggested that the Bajpe Airport roads, which are being beautified at the cost of the other roads in the city, must be blocked in order to draw the authorities’ attention to the real problem.







Faulty policies and wide-spread corruption is making even simple tasks such as obtaining RTCs difficult in this area, alleged Corporator Mariamma Thomas. Pointing out the fact that RTCs ought to be given within 45 days of receipt of applications, she said that people are not issued RTCs even 6 months after applying for them.

A memorandum regarding these issues was later submitted to the revenue minister and the revenue secretary through the deputy commissioner.
