Kannadigas reject SRS call for bundh

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Feb 14: Sri Rama Sene’s (SRS) call for bundh was a failure in most of Karnataka, except a few sensitive pockets such as Bijapur and Mangalore.

The SRS has failed to dampen the mood of those determined to celebrate Valentines Day. The police department has made all the required security arrangements so that people can celebrate Valentines Day peacefully. Several activists of the SRS and other pro-Hindu organizations have been taken into preventive custody.

This poor response to its call for a Karnataka bundh has not dampened the spirits of SRS either. Vilas Pawar, the general secretary of the SRS, told reporters that SRS activists will keep an eye out for young couples courting in public and inform their parents. In Hubli, SRS activists will move around with a mangalasutra and a purohit to marry unmarried couples.

The students’ wing of Congress said that it will come to the rescue of young couples if SRS harasses them. Couples in trouble can contact the National Students Union of India at 9986367219, 9844021999, 9845078159, 9845655262 and 9986365211
