Grand Christmas Bounty Celebrations: Xmas contests with cash prizes

Mangalore, Dec 16: Namma TV and St. Aloysius High School will jointly organize an entertainment and competitions programme as part of the Christmas celebrations in Mangalore. This event, called “Grand Christmas Bounty Celebrations,” includes competitions such as carol singing and star making. 

The Grand Xmas Carols Contest, the carol-singing competition, gives participants a time limit of 5+1 minutes. Participants can be of any age. They can form into groups of 8 singers and 3 musicians and sing carols in any language. Only one group per institution or parish is allowed. 
The Grand Xmas Star Contest, the star-making competition, allows 10 stars from each parish or institution to be entered into the contest. Individuals are also allowed to participate. The stars can be a maximum of 3 meters in height and width. 

The first, second, and third prize winners receive attractive cash prizes of Rs 5000, Rs 3000, and Rs 2000, respectively. Consolation prizes are also available in each category. 

The competitions will be organized in St Aloysius High School grounds on Dec 18, Friday, at 4 p.m. Namma TV will telecast the event from Dec 22 - 27, 2009.  During the event, Judah Band, a popular Mangalore-based band, will present a carol-singing event, which will include Baila, Konkani music, as well as Western music. The public can view the show absolutely free of charge.
