The minister informed media people that industrialists can now purchase maximum 1 acre unfertile land for the establishment of industries directly from farmers. He pointed out that, since the acquisition of unfertile land from farmers is consent based and not mandatory, the farmers will be given a share of the profits. Large number of farmers has already volunteered to give up their lands for industrialization. The state has acquired 72,000 acres of land already, out of which it has utilized 62,000 acres of land, while the rest of it is yet to be used.

Pointing out the fact that the availability of basic facilities such as harbor, railway station, airport, national highway, and water in DK facilitates the establishment of industries related to basic agricultural products such as paddy, areca nut, cashew, and coconut, the minister said that these facilities can be used to establish food industries, marine products, textile, rubber, refineries, petro chemical, ITI, areca nut processing, construction, cashew processing, coconut products, and much more.

Taking its consideration the availability of raw materials, water, electricity, and labor force, the government plans to provide 3-month training in the industrial sector to qualified individuals said the minister, adding that the people of the district must take advantage of the rich sources of the district and profit by them.

The minister also informed that the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board will reduce the service charge from 22 percent to 12 percent with effect from this month.
