Belthangady, Sullia teams win district level badminton championships

Mangalore, Sep 18, 2013 : The Belthangady  and Sullia teams won the  championship in  the boys and girls (under 17) category respectively in the district level badminton tournament held at the Government High School,Nalyapadavu, Shaktinagar  on September 17, Tuesday.

 The  Mangalore North Block and Bantwal Taluk teams won the championship in the two categories (Under 14) in the event. The runners-up in below 17 category were Mangalore South and Bantwal taluk, while in the Below 14 category, the runners-up position went to Bantwal taluk and Mangalore North in the boys and girls category respectively.

The tournament organised by the Department of Public Education and Zilla Panchayat was earlier inaugurated by JR Lobo, Mangalore of Mangalore South.

Akhila Alva, Corporator, presided over the function.Mahabala Marla, Corporator,  VijayaKumari, Headmistress,Joseph, President of District Physical Education Teachers Association and others were present.

On this occasion, Lobo also laid the  foundation for the additional school building to be constructed under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan. The new building will house a laboratory,library and a classroom.
