6 buses torched by Congress activists

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Feb 12: Congress activists set six buses and a police vehicle on fire in Hulkoti in angry response to a garland of footwear placed around the statue of K H Patil, a deceased Congress leader.

Sri Rama Sene activists stand accused of having placed the garland of slippers around the statue of Patil, following the assault on Pramod Muthalik, their chief, and the blackening of his face by members of the Youth Congress in Bangalore.

Police had to resort to lathi charge to disperse furious Congress activists, report sources in the police department.

Besides arresting 4 Congress activists, police have also taken 20 Sri Rama Sene activists into preventive custody.
