4th main line container vessel calls at NMP

Mangalore Today News

Mangalore, Jan 7: A main line container vessel of M/s Pacific International Lines (PIL) M.V. Leo Mono from East Africa, Port Mtwara, called at the New Mangalore Port (NMP) on Jan 7, Thursday.

The workers have unloaded 202 TEUs of import cargo and have loaded 140 TEUs of export cargo into the vessel. Soon the vessel will sail back to East Africa after stopping at Singapore and the Far East Countries on Jan 8.

This is the 4th main line vessel to call at NMP during the current financial year. Owing to main line vessels, exporters can save up to 50 percent in freight charges because they consumer less freight and take less transit time compared to feeder vessels.

Chairman Shri P Tamilvanan expressed happiness over the increased number of main line vessels calling at NMPT. He informed press people that 2 more main line vessels—M. V. Kota Nazrat and M.V. Kota Arif will call at NMP on Jan 14 and Jan 20, respectively.

He requested the MLOs and exporters to avail of the 50 percent savings in freight charges and utilize the added advantage of less transit time.
