Mangalore, May 23: The CET results were announced on Saturday.  A total of 71,855 students have bagged eligibility for medical and engineering seats through this year’s Common Entrance Test (CET), conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority.  A total of 1,14,013 students answered their CET, out of which 5,783 have gained eligibility for admission to dental and medical courses and 44,468 for homeopathy and Indian System of Medicine (ISM) courses. 71,639 students have gained eligibility for admission to engineering and technology courses and 673 for architecture.


CET Topper

The toppers in the engineering section were Shanbhag Anil Atmanand (95.94 pc) of VVS Sardar Patel PU College, Bangalore. The topper in the medical/dental category was Akshay B. Pattabhi (85.55 pc) of St. Aloysius College, Mangalore. Pattabhi also emerged as the topper of the Homeopathy and ISM category. Soujanya K. (79.66 pc) of National Hill View Public School of Bangalore was the topper in the category of architecture. 


Seat selection counseling will commence on June 2 for special categories and from June 10 for medical and dental courses.


Minister for Higher Education Aravind Limbavalli announced during a press conference that the KEA has sent the results via text message to all students who had provided their mobile numbers on the application forms. The scanned OMR sheets and evaluation reports have been uploaded on the KEA website; and students can download the reports from this site.


The minister also said that counseling will be available in Uttara Kannada and Belgaum from the next academic year. This year, counseling will be available at Bangalore, Gulbarga, Shimoga, Hubli, and Mangalore. He also announced a felicitation programme for the rank holders on June 10.


Medical Education Minister Ramachandra Gowda said that 50 more seats are now available at Mysore Medical College and Hubli Medical College, ensuring the accommodation of all the candidates.


Candidates, who results have been withheld owing to missing documents, can get their results after submitting the required documents to the KEA office from May 24. Discrepancies can be reported to the KEA office. In case of variation in II PU marks after revaluation, fresh ranks will be announced after finalizing the evaluation results.
