Bishop inaugurates new Ajekar church

Udupi, Apr 20: Rev Fr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore Diocese, inaugurated and blessed the brand new Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at Ajekar on April 19, Monday. The entire programme was organized by the people of the parish under the guidance of Fr. Valerian Fernandez, the parish priest, and Fr Kiran Pinto, the assistant parish priest. 

 

 

During the formal stage programme, Fr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza felicitated the current and previous parish priests who had served Ajekar parish. Fr. John Barboza, the vicar vaar of Karkala Varado, released the church souvenir. 

Fr. Leo Veigas, the vicar general of Gulbarga Diocese; Fr. Vincent Monteiro, the director of the Diocesan Pastoral Institute; Fr. Ronald D’Souza, the diocesan director of YCS/YSM; Gopal Bhandary, the MLA of Karkala constituency; Maurice Tauro, the vice president of Ajekar Parish Council; and William D’Souza, the secretary, were present during the occasion. 

Boniface Pinto and Stany Menezes were the comperers. Thousands of devotees had assembled to witness the event. The programme ended with a fellowship meal.
