Aug 30, 2018: Austria is the setting for this bizarre tale featuring Freida the horse on an adventure inside a carriage built for humans. Her three handlers even bought Freida a ticket for her ride on board the Austrian Federal Railways train.
They joked about how they better pay for two fares as the horse has two pairs of legs. Unfortunately, the unlikely crew didn’t last long on the train once the driver noticed them and kicked them off. They tried to board the train in Bad Mitterndorf, in the south-eastern state of Styria, and were filmed saying they were making use of a ‘resource-efficient’ form of transport. They also said they wanted to give the animal a comfortable ride because of the summer heat.
Some people actually thought the Austrian Federal Railways were just horsing around with a marketing stunt, but spokeswoman Julianne Pamme said they only found out about the incident after the video was posted online. She said that ‘naturally, the transportation of horses on trains is not allowed’. The statement also said that Frieda had to leave the train despite being a ‘tame’ horse.
