Chinese angler catches mutant fish with PIGEON-shaped head

June 18, 2018: A fishing enthusiast in China made a catch with a difference during a recent outing.

 

Footage shows how the angler reeled in a large and highly unusual fish with a bulbous pigeon-shaped head.

Stunned onlookers took pictures of the unique bird-like creature on their phone as it lay gasping for air.

The clip was shot in Guiyang City in southwestern China’s Guizhou Province on June 5.

The fish is believed to be a grass carp, a common freshwater species found across Asian and North America.

Thankfully, the man who caught animal took pity on it and released it back into the wild shortly afterwards.

The animal is far from the only unusual find made in China recently.

30 new deep sea creatures were recently discovered by using an underwater drone.

Among the unusual never-before-seen species shown in video footage is a ’ratfish’ which has big ears and - despite having eyes - is blind, said to use a lateral line to sense the change of current.
