The KGF franchise actress exuded elegance draped in an orange saree and tied her hair in a bun. She was accompanied by her family members and relatives as well on this joyous occasion. In the performance, Nemotsava or Bhutakola ritual was performed to please the deity worshipped in Srinidhi’s family, i.e.- the Jarandaya god.

Nemotsava or Bhutakola, is a ritual performed in the coastal line of Dakshina Kannada better known as Tulu Nadu. Bhuta Kola is an ancient practice of paying homage to local spirits, who are thought to protect the locals and maintain the delicate cosmic balance between nature and man.

In the performance, the dances of the people dressed as local spirits were accompanied by loud music. Srinidhi and her family members could be seen worshipping the spirits with folded hands. Following this, the dance artists placed their hands on the KGF actress and her family’s heads, thereby blessing the whole family. They also kept telling the members to follow the other customs and rituals via gestures. After performing an act in which they communicated with their expressions, they also gifted garlands to the Kannada actress and her family.

As per popular beliefs, the Daiva is invoked through the dancer. Possessing or channelling the energy of the Daiva cannot be learned by all. It is largely a talent learned by tribals that is passed on from one generation to another. The Nartaka is believed to hold the spirit of the Daiva and has divine messages to give to the natives.

The spirit, through the Nartaka, is believed to resolve disputes among his people and answer queries about their personal lives. The spirits are also relied upon to offer solutions to their worries. On this day when the whole village comes together to celebrate their Guardian Spirit.
