May 08, 2024: Video of an octopus trying to escape from seafood plates has caused a major buzz on the internet. The video shared on Instagram shows the octopus trying to escape from the plate by moving gradually with the help of his tentacles. The clip continues till the point when the octopus arrives slowly at the end of the table. As the video ends, it is not clear whether the sea animal can move down the table or not. It ends abruptly, which leaves the viewers thinking of a probable answer to this question. Besides the octopus, there are an assortment of other dishes present at the dining table as well.

 

After watching the clip, many social media users were left disgusted to the core. One of the users commented that eating such an intelligent creature alive is horrible. Second wrote that there is nothing funny in the video and depicts animal cruelty. Another wrote about how humans can eat an animal when they are alive. The user called it disgusting.

Eating an alive octopus cannot be only disgusting, it also reportedly has deadly hazards. In an interview with INSIDER, author and nutritionist Jenny Tschiesche talked about it. Jenny said, “It comes with a safety warning.” Jenny also added, “It’s not recommended. There’s a choking hazard predominantly from the suckers getting stuck to the inside of the throat, leading to the octopus causing an obstruction.”

A similar incident happened with Ms Liu in Beijing, China when she was having dinner at a hot pot restaurant. At this point, a live mollusk tried to climb out of the bucket. The video showed the octopus retreating into the bucket after its tentacle dipped into the boiling broth. The octopus was not supposed to be eaten as is, but escaped a bucket of ingredients waiting to be used. For those who don’t know, Hot pot or hotpot is also known as a steamboat. It is primarily a dish whereby a heat source placed on the dining table keeps a pot of soup stock simmering. A variety of Chinese foodstuffs and ingredients are served beside the pot for the diners to put into the hot stock.
