Mangalore, June 21, 2014: The educated younger generation instead of merely preferring to be employees should come forward to be entrepreneurs, said Capt. Ganesh Karnik, MLC.
He was speaking as a chief guest at the Graduation Day of the tenth batch of students of Canara Engineering College, Benjanapadavu held at the TV Raman Pai Convention Centre in the city on June19, Thursday. Capt. Karnik also inaugurated the Old Students Association of the college on the occasion.
Pointing out towards the grim fact that 70 per cent of graduates passing out of universities have not found suitable employment, he said educational institutions instead of merely producing degree students should develop in them the spirit of entrepreneurship.
SS Kamath, President of the Canara High School Association, administered the oath to the students. Dr Niranjan N Chiplunkar, Principal of NMAMIT, Nitte who was present as a chief guest, said there is an ocean of opportunities before the present young generation.
Degrees were presented to graduate and post graduate students. Shravan Shenoy who was adjudged the Best Student was awarded gold medal.
M Ranganath Bhat, Secretary of the college Management Board, Ajay Nayak, President of the Old Students Association, M Padmanabha Pai, Correspondent of the College, Prof, TN Shanbagh, Principal, M Annappa Pai, Vice President of Canara High School Association, Panchamal Gopalkrishna Shenoy, Treasurer, Vaman Kamath, Joint Treasurer and others were present.
The college e-magazine Surabhi 2014 was released on the occasion.
