 Mangalore, June 21, 2014:  World Environment Day  and  Environment Award presentation ceremonies were held at Town Hall in the city on June 21,Saturday under the aegis of the DK District Administration, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board and Mangalore City Corporation. The programme was inaugurated by District in-charge Minister  B Ramanatha Rai.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

During the function,  Awards were presented to individuals for their outstanding service to environment, for MCC wards, Gram Panchayats and TMCs  which have performed well in garbage management.  Even schools which contributed to environment conservation were  awarded.

JR lobo, MLA of Mangalore South presided over the function. B.A, Moidin Bava, MLA of Mangalore North,  Vijaykumar, Member Secretary of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, AB Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner, Ajith Kumar Hegde, MCC Commissioner and others were present.

Prior to the function, school children took out an environment awareness jatha from Bavutagudda upto Town Hall.
