Women’s Commission Chairperson meets acid attack victims in hospital

Mangaluru, Mar 06, 2024: A team led by Karnataka State Women’s Commission Chairperson Dr Nagalakshmi Chowdhury visited a private hospital in Mangaluru where the three girl students of a PU college at Kadaba are undergoing treatment after being subject to acid attack by a youth at the college premises on Monday. The Women’s Commission Chairperson spoke to the victims and instilled confidence in them.

Later, speaking to media persons she said as an immediate compensation Rs 4 lakhs is being released to each of the victims for medical aid. “The government will bear the treatment costs of the students. Even the cost of plastic surgery will be borne by the government,” she said.

She said she also spoke to the doctors and parents of the victims and ensured all measures to see that the education of the students is not affected. She said she would hold talks with the Education Minister.
