Mangaluru March 30, 2024: Eminent Former International  Athlete Mrs. Shiny Wilson (Abraham)  has been conferred with the Rotary Annual State Level prestigious “Vandana Award” at a function held on 29 March, 2024 at Hotel Motimahal Mangalore. The award is conferred on her in recognition of her exemplary achievements and in appreciation of his invaluable contributions in the field of National and International Athletics. The award is jointly instituted by Rotary Club of Mangalore Central and Rotaract Club of Mangalore City.

 

 

President of Sridevi Education Trust Dr. A. Sadananda Shetty graced the occasion as Chief Guest and congratulated on her National and International level sports achievements. He also lauded the community service rendered by the Rotary and recognizing the eminent achievers  and honouring them.  

Chairman of the Award Selection Committee Rtn. Dr. Devdas Rai in his introductory address revealed that the Annual Vandana Award is Conferred on exemplary achievers and it is a part of clubs vocational service project. He Congratulated Shiny Wilson (Abraham) on her unique achievements in the sports field. Rotaract President Rtr. Avinash Kulal introduced the awardee and presented her unique sports achievements.

Responding to the felicitations the awardee  expressed her gratitude to the Rotary Club and said that she deemed it as a privilege and honour to accept the Award, which is very valuable among the awards she has won. During the 1992 Barcelona Olympics sports event leading the Indian Contingent holding a Indian Flag was my very proud and memorable moment in my life time sports event.   

President Rtn. Rajesh Shetty presided over the function. District Rotaract representative Rtr. Rahul Acharya  released the Club Weekly News Bulletin “Centor”. Secretary Rtn. Ravi Jalan presented the Monthly Report, Past President Rtn. Sai Baba Rao, President Elect Rtn. Bryan Pinto, Mr. Wilson Cheriyan, Mrs. Pramila Shetty were present. Rotaract Club Secretary Rtr. Varun Rai proposed a vote of thanks.
