Vaidik row : Scribes have met Naxals in the past, says Pejawar Seer

Mangalore, July 16, 2014:  Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt has said that there was nothing wrong in  journalist Ved Pratap Vaidik meeting terror suspect Hafiz Saeed with an intention of  his mental transformation.

Speaking to reporters duringthe course of his visit to the city on July 15, Tuesday,  the seer said there have been instances in the past when journalists have met Naxals. “I consider that   in the latest case Pratap Vaidik met the terror suspect  on personal grounds and not as a government  representative.” “ I am opposed to Saeed’s stand that Kashmir should be  separated from India,” the seer said adding the Kashmir problem need to be solved after taking the local people into confidence.

 The Pejawar Swamiji also said he would request the government to take steps to check pollution of other rivers just like Ganges.

On the dining system in Udupi Mutt, he said the practice was in vogue since long and that  it is done in accordance to the wishes of the devotees. The Mutt considers all devotees as equals, he added.
