Mangalore, Mar 9, 2014 : In a rather surprising development, the name of Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas and sitting MP from Chikkaballapura constituency M Veerappa Moily has not found a place in the first list of candidates released by the Congress on March 8, Saturday.
The list of 14 candidates announced by the party has the names of all sitting Party MPs from the state excluding that of Veerappa Moily much to the surprise of many in the Congress. Moily meanwhile said he does not know the reason behind the omission of his name in the first list.
It is not yet known if it was because of an FIR filed by former Delhi CM Aravind Kejriwal against Moily,RIL Chief Mukesh Ambani and former petroleum minister Murali Deora accusing the latter for increase in price of Natural Gas from KG Basin. It is also worth mentioning here that Moily has already suffered a setback after the nomination of his son and entrepreneur Harsha Moily for the Congress Primaries to select candidate for Dakshina Kannada district, was rejected.
The Congress list of 14 candidates has the name of eight sitting MPs while other six are new faces.
