Udupi: Man gets lifer for killing 10 year old son

Udupi, Mar 26, 2014: The Udupi District and Sessions Court has sentenced a person to life imprisonment for killing his ten year old son by strangulating him.

udupi 1 The convict is Vasudeva Naika (51), a resident of Kabyadi in 80 Badagubettu village. Vasudeva who always used to suspect the fidelity of his wife Lalitha Prabhu had a strong doubt that he was not the father of ten year old Vishwasa Naika. On May 4, 2011 at around midnight.

Vasudeva taking advantage of the absence of his wife in the house, had tightened a nylon rope around Vishwasa’s neck and then tied the other end of the rope to the ceiling fan.

The District and Sessions Judge BM Angadi who conducted the hearing in the case has convicted Vasudeva and sentenced him to life imprisonment. He will also have to pay a penalty of Rs 5000.

TS Jithuri, Public Prosecutor argued the case for the prosecution. Manipal inspector SD Kulkarni had conducted the investigation.
