Two arrested, lakhs seized - IPL Gambling ring busted

Mangalore, May 21, 2014: More than Rs 5 lakh cash was seized in an operation and two persons have been taken into custody. Betting on IPL cricket matches have been widely indulged in though nothing is evident out side a close knit group.
Raids were conducted by police commissionerate’s DCP for law and order Dr K V Jagadish, CCB inspector Valentine D’Souza and Barke sub inspector K M Shareef in a major break through. City crime branch and Barke police master minded the raid on the premises of a private financing firm located in a high-end shopping mall on M G Road on Tuesday, on receiving a reliable tip-off.
The said firm that was involved, run by Vijay Kumar and Kishore Kumar, during the cricket season included a betting ring operating under its banner. A woman employee was found recording details of those who staked their bets. During the raid, this woman it is said had admitted to the betting operation. She has also handed over the details to police officers. The fall out from this expected to have serious trouble for many people who may have taken part in this illegal betting.
