Twin coastal districts sink low in SSLC-2014 performance

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, May 13, 2014:  Dakshina  Kannada after securing first place in PUC passes came out with a shocker in the SSLC. The educationally high flying undivided South Kanara, presently  Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts surfaced with very poor pass percentage in SSLC 2014, results just announced.

Student Dakshina Kannada  had gone down to 26th place in 2013, now has gone even lower to 29th position.  Worse still Udupi which was in the third place in 2013 has now slid to 16th palace.

It is stated that educational institutions and authorities in this region have made dedicated efforts to improve the performance and yet the students have slackened their score. DK  in 2010,was in 8th rank; in 2011 it went down to 21st place.   But, several  actions and chiefly the 18 point formula that was put into action brought it to the 7th place and it slipped down again in the year 2013. This year has been it’s lowest known.

It is indeed a very negative aspect for schools  and  all concerned will have to chart new strategies in the coming year 2014-15.
