Thousands of students protest against Facebook case in Udupi

Udupi, Jan 14, 2014: Thousands of students under the aegis of the ABVP staged a protest in front of the Clock Tower near the service bus stand in the town on January 13, Monday demanding stern action against the youth arrested for uploading obscene pictures of a college student on Facebook.
Students from MGM, UPMC, MPMC, MJC, PPC Mahesh and Vidyodaya colleges participated in the protest adn demanded that rape charges be filed against the accused.
The agitating students also expressed their grave concern over the rising cases of crime against women and also the growing tentacles of drug mafia.
They submitted a memorandum to Udupi SP Dr Boralingaiah who assured necessary remedial measures.
ABVP leaders including Shashidhar HP, Abhishek Rao, Prashanth, Akshatha. Deepika Pai and others participated in the protest.
