Subrahmanya: Speeding car fatally knocks down young bike rider

Subrahmanya, Jan 16, 2014: A young bike rider lost his life in a head-on collision between his two-wheeler and a car at Balpa near Panja on January 15, Wednesday. The deceased is Sudarshan (23), son of Koosappa  Poojari.

 The mishap occurred when Sudarshan, an electrician by profession was on way to his shop at Balpa.  Sources said the speeding car of Abdulla, a PWD contractor of Enmur knocked down his bike throwing Sudarshan off guard.  It is learnt, he lay struggling on the road for nearly 20 minutes before help came in.  The youth later died in a hospital in Mangalore where he was rushed for treatment.

  The car was reportedly driven by Abdulla’s son when the mishap took place. However, his failure to take the injured to the hospital and rather rushing to the Subrahmanya station to lodge a complaint has caused anguish among the locals who even prevented the police from vacating the vehicles from the spot. 

The injured was taken to  Puttur in a privet vehicle  from there to Mangalore in an ambulance, in the absence of the 108 ambulance in Subrahmanya which is under repair. The same problem had arisen when  two students had met with a mishap at Kulkunda near Subrahmanya recently.
