Students protest in city demanding justice in Ratna Kottari case

Mangalore, July 18, 2014:  Students from various colleges in the city, under the aegis of the All College Students Union staged a protest   in front of the  MCC Building Lalbagh on July 17, Thursday  demanding a thorough investigation into the  case of suspicious death of Ratna Kottari, a 17 year old PUC student  near Byndoor in Kundapur taluk recently.

Dinaker Shetty, President of the Union,  criticised the police for   failing to  make any arrests in the case. He also said there is no information on the progress in the investigation into the Sowjanya rape and murder case  too and expressed his grave concern over the rising cases of crime against women.

He  further deplored the drugs mafia  prevalent in the district and demanded stringent action to crack down the menace.

A candle light vigil was also held in respect of  Ratna Kottari.
