Mangaluru, March 18, 2018: The Mangala Swimming Club will organise a state-level swimming championship in memory of coach Ravish Vitla at the St Aloysius Swimming Complex in Mangaluru on April 29 and 30.
Addressing media, Club president Pramukh Rai said that the championship being conducted in the medalist category in association with Karnataka Swimming Association and is expected to attract more than 400 swimmers. The championship will be a prelude to the state championships to be organised under the auspices of the Swimming Federation of India later this year in Bengaluru.
He said that Ravish Vitla has been a much-adored coach who served with Mangala Swimming Club for several years. “He has produced state and national-level swimmers. The proceeds of the event will be handed over to his family for the educational needs of his children. The state-level event will be organised according to the SFI standards and will be officiated by technical team from Karnataka Swimming Association,” Rai explained.
