Mangaluru, July 15, 2018: A haven for cattle, Gau Swarga, will be built in Dakshina Kannada district on the model of Bhankuli Mutt, Uttara Kannada district, if land is available said Ramachandrapura Mutt seer Raghaveshwara Bharathi.
Speaking during a programme ‘Gau Swarga Samvada’, organised by Kamadugha Trust and Ramachandrapura Mutt, at the Town Hall here, he said that a 100 acre land has been identified in Uttara Kannada district for Gau Swarga. If another 100 acre land is available in Dakshina Kannada, the cattle shelter will be built in the district as well.
“The concept behind Gau Swarga is to create an open and protected space for cattle. In several places, cows are tied in sheds for a long time, which prevents access to open air and sunshine. In ‘Gau Swarga’, a natural atmosphere will be provided to the cattle. Treatment facilities will be available for wounded, aged and diseased cattle,” the seer said and called upon the cow lovers to contribute for the noble cause.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that ‘Gau Swarga’ will bring about a revolution in the protection of cattle.
Nitte Group of Education Institutions President N Vinay Hegde presided over the programme. Uttara Kashi Kapilashrama seer Ramachandra Guruji, Shaktidhama seer Devdas Guruji, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat President Meenakshi Shantigodu and SCDCC Bank Chairman M N Rajendra Kumar were present among others.
Gau Swarga is a Rs 25 crore project, being realised on a 100-acre land belonging to Bhankuli Mutt in Siddapur taluk of Uttara Kannada district. Three lakh sqft land will be used to construct Gau Swarga and the rest of the land will be utilised towards growing cattle fodder.
The roof will cover an area of 40,000 sqft, 70,000 sqft land will cover lawn, 1.90 lakh sqft will contain tree shade. There are currently 400 cows in ‘Gau Swarga’.
There will be a treatment centre for ill cows, milking unit, a separate centre for weak and handicapped cows, production and marketing centre of various products and also a theatre.
