Sahyadri Samrakshana Sanchaya launches ‘Vriksha Bandhana’

Mangalore, Aug 11, 2014: A Vriksha Bandhana Programme with the theme ‘Save and Grow Trees’ was launched by the Sahyadri Samrakshana Sanchaya in the city on August 11, Monday.  Mangalore Mayor Mahabala Maarla kick-started the campaign by tying a wire mesh around a tree at Balmatta in Mangalore.

A poster  stating ‘ Trees and Plants are living Gods on this earth (Maragidagalu Ee Bhoomiya Jeevantha Devaru’ were  also tied around the trees.

 Environmentalist, artiste and Sahyadri Samrakshana Sanchaya Convenor Dinesh Holla, several green activists and MCC officials were present.

The campaign aims at sensitizing the society on the need to  nurture trees in this age when destruction of trees is rampant.
