Chairing a meeting of the private hospital chiefs, he warned that those hospitals not complying with the directions would face the cancellation of the license under the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (KPME) Act.

As the district is seeing a surge in the cases, there should not be any shortage of beds to treat the infected patients, he directed.

A total of 20 hospitals have been empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme in Udupi district. The remaining private hospitals should also get registered under Ayushman Bharat – Arogya Karnataka’ (ABRK) scheme. The registered hospitals should reserve beds immediately, he said.

“If the hospitals fail to admit patients sent by the district administration citing non-availability of beds, then their registrations will be cancelled, and cases will be booked under the Epidemic Diseases Act,” he warned.

The registered hospitals should treat both Covid and non-Covid patients, women and children as well. The availability of beds and facilities in the hospitals should be furnished to the bed management team. Any negligence will attract an FIR, the officer warned.

Zilla Panchayat CEO Preethi Gehlot directed to submit details on the total availability of beds, usage, ventilators, ICU beds and other facilities in the hospitals.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu, District Health Officer Dr Sudheerchandra Sooda and others were present.
