Mangalore, June 25, 2013 : Deputy Commissioner N Prakash has directed the RTO to initiate measures to see that the city roads had good and scientific speed breakers.
Addressing a district level road safety committee meeting held at his office on June 24, Monday, the Deputy Commissioner expressed his resentment over the unscientific speed breakers at several places in the city and stressed the need to replace them as they are causing problems to the public.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner also instructed the authorities to commence the Padil fly-over work construction.
In response to a complaint from Hanumanth Kamath, President of Nagarika Hitharakshana Vedike, the Deputy Commissioner directed the MCC authorities to complete the works on the Mahamayi Temple Road within a week.
On the issue of traffic signal lights, the RTO told the meeting that signal lights would be installed at appropriate locations at the earliest.
District Superintendent of Police Abhishek Goyal drew the attention of the Deputy Commissioner towards the problems faced by the general public in the absence of a bus stand at BC Road and also due to the bridge toll gate centre at Panemangalore.
The issue of cramming passengers in pick-up jeeps in Belthangady and Charmady, the DC directed the RTO to initiate appropriate remedial measures.
Mallikarjuna, Regional Transport Officer and other officials as well as representatives of various organizations were present.
