Pulincha Award conferred on veteran Yakshagana artiste Aruva Koragappa Shetty

Bantwal, May 15, 2013: The first ever Pulincha Award instituted by the Pulincha Seva Pratishtana was conferred on veteran Yakshagana artiste Aruva Koragappa Shetty at a function held at a temple at Baltila village in Bantwal taluk. Senior RSS leader and Convenor of Kalladka Sri Rama Vidya Kendra Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, inaugurated the programme.

Umanath Kotian, former president of the Tulu Sahitya Academy, presented the award to the veteran artiste. Kumble Sunder Rao, former president of the Yakshagana Academy, gave a bird’s eye view of the contributions of Aruva Koragappa Shetty to Yakshagana..

Padmanabha Kottary, District BJP President, presided over the function. Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli former member, Karnataka Janapada and Yakshagana Academy, Rajesh Naik Ullipady Guthu, Shridhar Shetty Pulincha, President, Pulincha Seva Prathistana, Pratima Sridhar Shetty, Assistant Professor of St Aloysius College and others were present.
