Mangalore, Mar 27, 2014 : Senior Congress leader and the party’s candidate from Dakshina Kannada for the upcoming Parliamentary elections B Janardhana Poojary who had drawn flak for his earlier statements promising to implement the PCPIR (Petroleum, Chemical and Petrochemical Investment Region) project in the district if elected, has reverted his statement.
Speaking to media persons at the Congress Election Office in the city on March 27, Thursday, Poojary said “The Project will not be implemented if people are against it.”
However, the senior leader justified his statements that he will fight for reservation for Brahmins and GSBs too by stating that there are poor people even in these communities and that there was nothing wrong in providing reservations to them.
As usual, Poojary took a dig on BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi and said Modi cannot become the Prime Minister. He also criticised the BJP for projecting an individual rather than the party and said it was not acceptable.
He charged Modi was projecting artificial growth in Gujarat and challenged him to bring the truth before the nation.
