Poojari is a valued Congressman, he will not retire owing to defeat : Khader

Mangalore, May 24, 2014:  At a  press meet in Mangalore, Minister for health and family welfare U T Khadar on Friday stressed, "Our senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary, will never take retirement from politics just because of this defeat. Congress party and the people will not allow him to retire." He went on to add Janardhan Poojary is a valued Congressman and his help is needed to reorganize the Congress party in the district.DK District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai and youth services and sports minister Abhaychandra Jain too worked a lot to ensure his victory, but some factors did not allow his winning, Khader said.

 

 

 

 

On MERS Coronavirus :  "The Central Govt has asked all states to take every precaution to prevent MERS Coronavirus entering and spreading in the country. As such, Karnataka government has set up screening centers at Mangalore and Bangalore airports for people arriving from Middle East countries particularly. Doctors are to screen passengers showing any symptom and examine them for MERS. It may not be practical to screen each and every passenger. Caution boards would be put up and passengers can voluntarily approach the health surveillance teams and get themselves checked."  Further, detailing measures to be taken to prevent the spread of MERS Coronavirus, he said the government of India has received directives from World Health Organization (WHO) to take all measures against disease which is creating panic in the Middle Eastern countries.

Minister Khadar informed that Ten beds will be reserved in the district hospitals for patients sufferings from MERS. The state medical officers will meet to discuss this issue further. The main intention is to prevent this disease from spreading and safe guard the populace from illness.

Shortage of Medical Doctors :  U T Khadar also pointed out, there was a dearth of doctors in the state, and those doctors working on contract basis from three years will be made permanent. He added that vacancies for posts of doctors and nurses will also be filled soon, and that while MBBS doctors will be paid on the same scale as assistant commissioners, PG doctors will get salary on the same scale as assistant deputy commissioners.

On  BJP at the Center : Regarding BJP PM-elect Narendra Modi’s invitation to Pakistan PM Nawaz Shariff for the oath-taking ceremony, he said, "The BJP came to power by its misleading information. Whenever, Manmohan Singh-led government spoke of having good relationship with the neighbours, BJP used to call it ’politics of appeasement’. But now Modi has invited Pakistan PM Nawaz Shariff for his oath-taking.The BJP are betraying the people by doing so. Modi should explain why he has invited Pakistan PM. People have the right to know.  They also want to know when BJP are planning to bring black money back to India," he added.

Asked about the criticism surrounding AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi over the poor show of the Congress party in the elections, Khadar said, "No one is criticizing Rahul Gandhi. If someone criticizes Rahul Gandhi it means they have failed to understand him. Today or tomorrow he will become the Prime Minister of India."

On controlling sea erosion : Khadar stated, "The government had allocated Rs 299 crore for sea erosion prevention project. Out of that, Rs 223 crore will be used in the first phase for the construction of a breakwater from Kotepura to Ellarnagar. In the second phase, Rs 26 crore will be used to construct a breakwater from Someshwar to Uchila / Talapady. This expected to have a permanent solution to the problem of sea erosion."
