Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, May 19, 2014 :  State Minister for Forest and Ecology and DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai has  expressed the hope that the  new BJP government which would take charge at the Centre would ensure that the nation’s secular fabric was not endangered.

He was addressing press persons at the District Congress Office on May 18, Sunday. Stating that the Congress honoured the mandate of the people, Rai said the party has tasted both victory and failure even in the past but has never compromised with its secular stance. He said it would continue to do so in the days to come.

On the poll debacle, he said though the Congress has launched several ambitious projects for the development of the nation, the BJP has only resorted to a malicious propaganda and has  made big promises. The question now is whether it would be able to fulfil its promises, Rai said.

Defending the party, he said the Congress has not suffered major setback in the Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka and Kerala compared to the previous elections and in other states.

The results will not affect the state government and CM Siddaramaiah will complete his full five year term, Rai said.

Ibrahim Kodijal, District Congress Interim President,  Ivan D’Souza, Kallige Taranath Shetty, Congress leaders, Mahabala Marla, Mayor, Kavitha, Deputy Mayor, Shashidhar Hegde, former mayor were present
