Mangalore, Mar 6, 2014 :Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily who was scheduled to attend three programmes in the city on March 5, Wednesday including one at MRPL had to cancel all his scheduled programmes due to the enforcement of the model code of conduct soon after the announcement of the Lok Sabha election schedule earlier in the day.
As announced earlier, Moily was supposed to dedicate to the nation, the first strategic oil storage in Mangalore. The oil storage of a capacity of 1.55 million tonnes is the first of three such strategic reserves planned in the nation.
He was also scheduled to inaugurate the expanded capacity of Mangalore Refinery ( 15 million tonnes from 11.8 million tonnes)apart from an Aromatic Complex at the SEZ constructed at a cost of Rs 5750 crore. The complex has been constructed jointly by MRPL and ONGC.
