This is what people  desire, aspire and expect said the DK Superintendent of Police Sharanappa.  He had initiated this while serving as the Superintendent of Police in Gadag.

SP Sharanappa said they had formulated a system to dispose cases, serving of summons, proper marking and maintenance of seized property, prevention and detection of crimes, and follow-up of cases in courts. It includes providing good working environment in the police stations.  A definate system is in place for police personnel and  public transactions.

Further,  e-beat system for police patrol and smart fleet card – a method to monitor and maintain police vehicles as a  part of systematic  work flow.   Processes at eight police stations and four offices of Circle Inspectors in Bantwal, Puttur, Sullia and Kadaba, would be streamlined. The remaining five police stations and two proposed new stations would develop the system after they  get their own buildings, the SP said.

The process of  certification was started  nearly eight  months ago. Investigating cases in a scientific  and time bound manner ha also been introduced as part of the certifications.

“Rape cases are investigated expeditiously and charge sheets are filed as soon as feasible,” the SP said.

Any gaps with  prosecution and judiciary to put in place a system of follow-up trial of criminal cases hava been taken care of.  All the criminal cases and related data have been digitalised for easy handling.

SP Sharanappa said that two rounds of audit checks have been done and final round may be  in this week  before completion.  The ISO 9001:2008, certification  will be valid for three years once it is given in a month’s time.  The certification, he said, was a tool to boost the services and  morale of police based on work satisfaction.
